Family Time

We had such a good time with Grandpa B. and Aunt Denise. We were sad to say goodbye. It's hard to live so far away from family. Justin & Lara certainly enjoyed their time with their Grandpa and Aunt. The weather was perfect (hot) but perfect. Everyone got to enjoy pool time everyday. We miss you and can't wait for the next visit!

Happy Birthday to my sweet babies. I can't believe how the year has flown by!

What an exciting day for Justin & Lara. They wake up to their first surprise which is Grandpa Buczek & Aunt Denise being here! After breakfast and opening presents we all headed over to their daycare where they enjoyed pizza, cupcakes and a fun puppet show. A special Thank You goes to the Cutter Family for making Justin & Lara's first Birthday a blast!

If Justin & Lara only knew how much they were loved and adored!! Thank you so much to everyone who made their first birthday so special!

Visit from Uncle Jason

Justin & Lara got to meet their Uncle Jason for the first time last weekend! We really enjoyed the time we got to spend with him. The night he arrived we all enjoyed a nice steak & shrimp dinner (compliments to Russ) with cocktails. We had a good time!

On Sunday Jason & I took the kids to Charleston for a day trip. It was Jason's first time in Charleston. It was a bit hot, but we still were able to enjoy the beauty of Charleston. Unfortunately Russ had guard drill and missed the day in Charleston, but we made up for it that night with a bbq.

It was a good time and we all can't wait to see Jason again. After Jason left us he started a 6 week cross country road trip. We all wish Jason a safe and happy trip! Thank goodness for Facebook so we can keep up with him and his updates.

Justin is teaching Lara all sorts of new tricks! She follows her brother's lead which is so fun to watch. I really need to buy the Monkey See, Monkey Do shirts for them!! Justin is a little fast for her though, but she eventually catches up. Constant entertainment at the Hiller house these days!

Summer Fun

Unfortunately, we weren't able to enjoy our Memorial Day weekend being that the whole family was sick. I couldn't wait for all of us to get better to get outside and enjoy the sun and pool. AND our camera broke and I went through camera withdrawals for almost 2 weeks! I made up for it yesterday when we were in the pool.

Little Miss Lara has us all fooled. She can get around very well. She scoots on her belly and makes her way through the house just fine. The other morning when I was getting Justin ready for daycare, Lara decided to get into the dog food and had a big smile on her face as she was eating it. Her other favorite place is the bathroom where she gets on the scale.

Justin is anxious to get up on his feet and start walking which terrifies me. Is it possible for a child to run/crawl...seems to be what Justin does. He is fast on those knees!!

Question of the week: My Doctor asked me "have you been feeling tired lately". Oh no Doc...I'm well rested and FULL of energy! Yes, she knows I'm a mother of twins.

My first Mother's Day. There was a time I never thought I would be celebrating this day...and here I am with two beautiful babies that have lightened my life everyday for 9 months. It was definitely a day of celebrating with my family.

Well Check Up - 9 months

Didn't we just have their 6 month check up? Geez! They said it would go fast, but I had no idea it would be this fast. We had all good news at their appointment today. Dr. Thomas said they are "just perfect". You can't get better news than that. She was surprised how Lara has caught up to Justin.

Lara: 27.5" long, 19.8 lbs and head is 17 3/4"
Justin: 28" long, 20 lbs and head is 18"

Justin has two teeth coming in on top now in addition to the two he has on the bottom. Lara has none. Dr. Thomas reminded me that I can't compare the two of them. All babies will grow and develop differently. Just like Justin is crawling, and Lara is not. She will do it when she's ready.

After the appointment I took them to daycare where I got to spend some time with the Cutters and all the little ones there. Since Russ drops them off and picks them up everyday, I never get to see anyone. I am very grateful to have the Cutters that take such good care of my babies everyday. The other kids are so sweet to Justin & Lara.

I'm very thankful for healthy and happy babies. Here's to 9 months!

We have a crawler!

Justin is now crawling. I got an email from Mrs. Terrie on Friday who said Justin was crawling around and was so happy with his new found freedom. Of course I couldn't wait to see it for myself. Well...Justin is definitely excited that he can get places now =) His favorite place to crawl, of course, is right to Peanut & Lucy's food dish when they are eating. He takes a handful of their food and plays with it in his hands. As I said before, thank god Lucy & Peanut haven't snapped at him yet! I'm so happy for my boy!

We had a beautiful weekend here in SC. It was 90 degrees! Where is Spring? Seems like we went straight to Summer. I'm not complaining...but I wasn't prepared for this heat just yet. We all took a trip to Walmart this morning to get a baby pool. Russ is working on our pool (draining, new liner, etc) so in the mean time the kids enjoyed their baby pool. Of course there are pictures to see...I'm always there snapping pictures no matter where we are. They love the water and were splashing around...definitely put a big smile on our faces to see them having fun in it.

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter with their families. We enjoyed 4 days with Grandma and Grandpa Hiller who came to visit from NJ. The weather was just perfect and we had a great time! We are looking forward to the next visit. Justin & Lara sure enjoyed their grandparents being here.

While they were here, Grandpa was feeding Justin his apples & chicken and Justin thought he was taking too long and took the spoon out of his hand and put the spoon right in his mouth several times. We tried that again last night with Russ/Dad and Justin threw his spoon on the floor and turkey tetrazini was splattered everywhere. I guess that only works well with Grandpa, lol.

Lara was quite the entertainer with all her giggles, peek a boos and her new "barking" noise she makes. That usually kicks in when Justin is being played with and she's not. She definitely loves being the center of attention. It amazes me how smart 8 month olds can be!!

Twin Stuff

A few things to report :) Justin has two teeth coming in on the bottom! I can't believe my baby boy has TWO teeth coming in. It seems like things are moving in fast forward...everything is happening so fast these days. Lara doesn't have any coming in yet. Justin is also so close to crawling, I give him another week or two and my boy is going to be a crawler. Today he rolled himself right to the dog food bowl where Lucy sat there guarding her food...quite funny! I'm still amazed that the dogs haven't bit or growled at the kids. Justin & Lara love pulling their ears and fur. Justin always ends up with a handful of poor Peanuts fur in his hand. Thank you Peanut & Lucy for being so patient! Lara is rolling around now and Justin finds it amusing. I love to watch the two of them laughing with eachother. It is so sweet!

Lara loves to smile and talk to herself in the mirror, well baba gaga dada in the mirror I should say. So sweet! We REALLY need a video camera! They amaze me everyday. The excited smile I get when I see them after work just melts my heart.

Grandma & Grandpa Hiller are coming to visit on Thursday and we are looking forward to seeing them! Last time they were here, Justin & Lara were just little peanuts.

First visit to the zoo

We had such a nice weekend. It was 80 degrees and it felt so good to be out in the sunshine! We decided to take the kids to the zoo yesterday and they really enjoyed it. Lara LOVED the aquarium...she has a fascination with fish and its really cute. Russ will say "where's the fishies" and she smiles/laughs and kicks her feet. It is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I think she is going to be a marine biologist one day lol.

Justin is rolling now and gets around pretty good too. He likes to get under the pack and play which is pretty funny. It's like his little hide-out. You can see in the pictures.

It's been a busy weekend and I'm off to bed at 8:30 but I wanted to get some pictures up. Enjoy the pictures of my sweet peas.

I'm so happy it's Friday! I am looking forward to getting up early tomorrow morning and going to Charlotte for the day. We are going to Katz NY Deli, Concord Mills Outlet Mall and Trader Joes. We are also going to try and get together with our friends that live in Rock Hill. It's going to be a nice family day.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentines Day! Grandpa B sent them their very first Valentines Day presents. Thank you Grandpa, we love you very much!

6 month check up

Today Justin & Lara had their 6 month well check up! Until today my little Lara has not been on the charts for height or length. Well today my munchkin is on the charts (no surprise there with her weight gain LOL).

Lara is now 16 lbs and 24 1/4" long which puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and 10th percentile for length. My little munchkin :) Justin is 17.9 lbs and 26" which puts my big boy in the 50th percentile for both.

Needless to say Lara is now off of Neosure, bye bye high calorie formula!! You sure did your job with Lara. They will now be on the same formula YAY.

Of course Dr. Thomas mentioned Lara's flat head issue, but there are no concerns and no need for a helmet. :) All good news today at their check up, which makes me a happy mama.

We had the pleasure of attending Kensleigh's 2nd birthday party last Saturday. She had a Wiggles party! What a sweet little girl Kensleigh is!! She is the sweetest 2 year old I know. After the party she had fun putting stickers on Lara & Justin aka Jus-Jus and Lala. "Sit still La-La" So cute!

I thought it was time for an update since I've abandoned my blog. Russ was gone for 7 days and being here by myself leaves me with no time for anything. Justin & Lara are now eating baby food. Lara loves green beans, Justin does not. Otherwise they love everything else. Sweet potatoes are a favorite! I am also happy to report that they are both sleeping through the night again. 7:30-6 for Lara, and Justin 7:30-4 He seems to be an early riser like Daddy, unlike Lara who will sleep until you wake her. Justin is also sitting up with little assistance, and it is very exciting to see him trying to pull himself up to reach for things. Lara should be following right behind shortly.

This weekend has been very COLD. We are staying indoors to prevent any colds, etc. We've had enough of those around here.

Back on schedule...maybe not

Well now that the holidays are over and everyone is back to normal, we can all get back to our regular routine - unless of course you live in the Hiller house where Dad has the Flu and when he recovers...the kids get sick. Back to sleepless nights for a little while until they get over it. They both woke up at 1:45am, Justin was coughing, congestion...had to get the bulb syringe out which usually ends up being a crying fit, he sees it coming towards his nose and starts screaming. Poor baby =( Lara apparently just felt like waking up to accompany us because she sat there smiling the whole time...not sure what that was all about. Needless to say, I'm struggling a bit at work today. It never fails, when I'm tired it is a slow, quiet & boring day...ugh. I pray that they don't end up with the flu, right now no fever so we will see.

Anyway...no resolutions from me this year...although I am going to make an honest effort to get more organized, get my picture albums done and I am still working on losing weight by spring which is doing well. I am sticking to plan and feeling better already!

I have to share my big bargain from Craigslist for the week - Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium for the crib $5, YAY. Now Justin & Lara both have aquariums for their crib which they love =)

It's 2009, I'm still trying to figure out where 2008 went...it went too fast! Russ and I put the babies to sleep on NYE and he made us a nice steak & shrimp dinner and we had a few cocktails...and then we passed out at 10. Such party animals! What happened to the old Russ & Jaime who stayed up until 2...those days are gone! Justin was so happy to wake up at 5:00 with his HAPPY NEW YEAR smile on. Even though I was up all night with the neighborhood fireworks spectacular, dogs barking/whining at the fireworks, Russ snoring and Lara waking up 3 times to eat/change...he still made me laugh with his happy morning smile.

at the Hillers. We managed to get our tree up yesterday! Hey better late then never right! I wish we had a video camera, because yesterday definitely needed to be on video. Russ and I putting ornaments on the tree and singing Christmas songs as Justin & Lara were crying/screaming. It was quite amusing.

Justin & Lara are teething now. We started out with Orajel and then 2 people recommended Hylands Teething Tablets...they work great! Once the tablet dissolves, it must take the pain away instantly...at least that is what it seems. Guess we need to stock up on more teething toys. Although they both seem to like the frozen washcloth idea better.

It's lunch time already...off to Walmart AGAIN.

All the ladies in the office bake cookies and bring them in...toffee, choc chip, peanut butter, frosted cashew, oatmeal....and then we get a delivery from Goodness Gracies - OK those are the best cookies. They are like a buttery toffee goodness! You can't say no to these women because you don't want to hurt anyones feelings. I might as well enjoy all of this now because once the new year comes, new Jaime! healthy eating, exercising and hoping to lose 40 lbs by the spring. I want to be a healthy mom and set good examples for the kids. (Don't laugh Russ, I know you have heard this for 8 years now) lol

I can't even look at another cookie in this office. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the nice lady who brings in Pumpkin Gooey butter cake (Paula Deen recipe) If you haven't tried this yet, you NEED to make it. It will be a big hit at any company or family get together!! You could even do the plain butter cake, there are so many variations. Very easy to make and delicious.

Well it's lunch time and I am headed to fight the Lexington traffic, to try and find "Baby's First Christmas" ornament that I could put a picture in. I called Hallmark and they don't have the one I want....so the search begins....and nothing like finding that 6 days before Christmas. Leave it up to me!

7 days til' Christmas

and 5 days until Hanukkah...we don't have our tree up or our Menorrah out. How sad are we this year, no lights on the house, no tree, ... It's not like Justin & Lara really know it's Christmas, but I would still like to get into the spirit a little...their presents are just sitting there in the corner =( under the imaginary tree LOL. Maybe we will put one up on Saturday. I am looking forward to Christmas morning with my family. Opening presents and them playing in their new jumperoo that I am getting this weekend...nothing like last minute shopping and fighting crowds. Well with the kids being sick its been hard to do anything...that is my excuse and I am sticking to it :p

BUT, we did get our Christmas pictures done by our great friend Tequila. If you are interested in photography, invitations, birth announcements, etc., please check her website. The portraits came out so good and I can't wait to get the time to put together a "my first christmas" album. Snapfish & Walgreens are offering great deals now on photo calendars and photo books! They looked absolutely adorable in their little santa outfits. I will be posting pictures very soon =)

I'm happy to report that the babies are finally getting better and over their bronchitis. They are still coughing but not as much...and Lara slept through the night yesterday without coughing once...Justin on the other hand did wake up from his coughing. They have been doing their albuterol breathing treatments every 4 hours. They went back to the dr yesterday, and we can knock it down to 2x a day now until next week. I just want them to get better already. I feel like they have been sick for a month straight...oh thats because they have!

Well I sure hope everyone is taking it easy and not getting stressed out with the holidays approaching!!

check-up

The twins had their 4 month check-up today and Justin had his shots. Lara couldn't get her shots because she had a fever, ear infection and bronchitis. Justin also has bronchitis but no fever or ear infection. Thank you for that! OH and just for the record, bronchitis is in fact contagious if there is fever present! The dr specifically said not to send the kids back to daycare because they will spread the virus to the other children. Grandma will be watching them for the rest of the week.

Justin weighs 14.7 lbs and Lara is catching up with 12.5 lbs =) I was surprised that the doc wants to keep her on the Neosure (high cal formula). She said she may take her off of it at 6 months. I reminded her that it is expensive and only comes in a 12.9oz can....she just laughed. I must have sounded like I was kidding but I was actually serious, oh well.

It's hard enough to have sick children, then I have the issue with missing time from work and I've only been here 2 weeks. I know they are understanding, but still it doesn't look good for a temp to start taking time off with sick kids. And I have to take the kids back to the dr on friday, so I will be leaving early. Of course everyone tells me not to worry about it....but we all know how people really think.

Well I'm off to write down my to-do list for the week and my little tiny christmas list. Oh and of course stare at the clock until 5 so I could get home to take care of my sick duo. The dr gave us 3 prescriptions so I'm sure they will be knocked out early tonight.

Thanksgiving in Florida

We spent our Thanksgiving in sunny Florida with the Hillers. Justin & Lara got to spend time with Aunt Kim & Uncle Michael and also got to meet cousin Alanna, Doug and Aunt Ruth & Uncle Sid (Russ' aunt and uncle). We had a nice time. We can't wait to go back....but next time we are flying. The drive home was 12 1/2 hours with rain, construction, traffic, changing and feeding babies. It was only supposed to be 8 hours.
Everything is going really good at my job. The 8:00 start time is still a little rough and I'm still drying my hair with the heat on full blast as I'm flying down Hwy 1 to get to work...but it will get better. I just have to get up earlier in the morning. Easier said than done!
Russ and I definitely have a lot to be thankful for! Everyone should give thanks more, not just on Thanksgiving!!

Being that the kids are still sick, we've stayed inside this weekend in hopes of getting better for our trip to Florida on Wednesday. Lara has had a fever and both are still coughing, sneezing and has stuffy noses. It's been an interesting weekend so far. Thank god for infant tylenol that is all I have to say! I guess we could expect for both of the kids to always be sick together. So much fun!

Russ has been quite entertaining with his puppet shows...they LOVE puppet time. I love to see them smile and giggle at our sillyness. I found myself dancing and singing to Blues Clues "We just got a letter" and "we just figured out blues clues". Does the guy in Blues Clues ever have a different shirt on?? He cracks me up.

Baby its cold outside

It was a cold day here in SC, but its going to get even colder tonight - 24 to be exact. So much for the South huh? Both of the babies have colds, thank goodness they only have colds. It's that time of year. They went to the dr today just to make sure. Its been a rough couple of nights with Justin being sick...coughing all night and waking up so I could plunge his nose out. Ahh what joy. I can't get up in the morning on time and I end up running around here like a crazy woman trying to get the kids fed, changed and dressed to get out the door by 645...I've managed to make it to work on time though...exactly 8:00.

Everything is working out really well with the kids going to the sitter. She just called to see how Justin made out at the doctor. We talked about the kids and their schedules, etc. She also told me she got Lara to laugh out loud which I can not wait to see. Getting a smile out of her isn't easy. She is going to get it on video and email it to me!! How nice is that!! I'm so so happy everything is going smoothly in that department, and I don't find myself worrying about the kids during the day which is a good feeling. Today she emailed me and said my children were precious little angels. At first I was wondering if she had my kids confused with someone elses LOL.

I hope to get some pictures uploaded and on the blog this week.

Working Girl

Well it's official I am back to full time work. I LOVE my new job. I thought I was just going to be answering phones....little did I know that I was the admin asst to the entire office. I'm not complaining because I like to stay busy and the day goes by quicker. Today was also the first day the kids started daycare...well they are actually with a private sitter. Another great referral from Tequila http://jasandkee.blogspot.com/ I swear Tequila is a heaven send to me. Mrs. Terrie is their new sitter and she said she had a great day with them. She said Lara only fussed for a little while today and Justin was very good. I was so happy to hear they had a good day. I couldn't get home fast enough to see my little munchkins. It's funny how Russ is the one who tried calling Mrs. Terrie 3x today and got no answer. He called me and told me to email her....I think he was more concerned then I was! My day was really busy so my mind stayed occupied...I thought I would be sobbing at my desk all day but I didn't.

I am exhausted. It's 8:00 and I'm going to bed. Good night!

Rise and Shine

Justin decided to wake up at 5 this morning, so here I am. That is perfectly fine with me, because I'm just happy that he is sleeping in his crib. He went to sleep at 8 and slept to 5. I can't complain. Lara is still sleeping. She takes after her mom, she wants all the sleep she could get.
The funny thing is both of them wake up and I put them on the couch and they watch the news. Justin likes WIS news and Lara watches the Today Show, particularly Matt Lauer (not kidding). If I put Noggin or cartoons on, they aren't interested. Funny I know. They both stare at that tv as if they really know what is going on....it cracks me up.

So I did my temp job for 2 days which was nice. Everyone there was very nice and they would love for me to come back and work there. I really don't want to be a receptionist but after doing some thinking....maybe I should consider getting a stress free job like a receptionist. They pay 50% of daycare costs!!! That is WONDERFUL.

pros: 10 min away, easy job, nice laid back atmosphere, they pay 50% daycare

cons: will i be bored after a week? less pay, but will daycare even out?

So what should I do? Any opinions are welcome. I actually have to work on lining up daycare/sitter today just in case this job comes through. My mother let me know that she wouldn't be able to watch the kids full time. It's too much for her to handle. I'm glad she was honest with me. Even though she raised 3 kids of her own, she is older now and can't get around as good as she used to.

Off to start my busy day :)

Good Deal

I love yard sales and thrift stores! My new favorite things! Where could you find better deals on things? Today I got the best deals....Eric Carle books for 25c, brand new outfits for $2, sleepers that are in perfect condition for 25c. You can find some really good stuff. I went to a teachers yard sale today and got flash cards, teaching books, all kinds of educational books and a few toys today for a total of $4.25. Yea, I think I'm becoming a yard sale junkie :) Just thought I would share my happiness. Russ always laughs at me because I'm like a little kid coming home with my bag of goodies.

I have a temp job Monday & Tuesday. It's so funny to be on this end of the temp world. For so long, I placed people on temp jobs and now I'm that temp. It's so funny. It gives me an opportunity to get out of the house, and make some extra cash (more importantly). I'll try not to call my mother every 5 minutes to see how the babies are doing.

Justin and Lara are 3 months old as of yesterday. It is hard to believe that 3 months has passed by. Even though my life is a big hectic mess....I wouldn't change it for the world. These two little people have brought me such joy and happiness (maybe just a little stress at times). Here's to 3 months babies. Out of the bassinets and into the cribs tonight they will go - WOO HOO.

I had to pass on the temp job because the hours were 7:30-4:30. There is no way I would have made it anywhere by 7:30 in the morning. That would have been crazy. I guess I'll continue being a stay at home mom until the first of the year when HOPEFULLY I will start back in the staffing world.

My first blog post - T will be so proud of me :)

I had the cutest costumes for the twins (Thanks to Tequila). Two Peas in a Pod. Justin was a solo pea pod because Lara wasn't feeling good. I couldn't even get her for a picture because I couldn't get her to stop crying. Doc said it was stomach virus. Poor thing. I did get Daddy and Justin for a picture. Awww.

Life with twins is just as everyone imagines it is, completely chaotic. I was always the person who arrived everywhere on time, never broke plans, stayed organized...that is all out of the window now. Everyday I wake up with a plan and then never get anything accomplished. Before I know it, its 5:00. I started job hunting today, #1 reason - SANITY . It's been so long since I've had to look for a job. Craigslist has a ton of great paying admin positions listed and when you reply to them it turns out to be a scam. You have to be careful with everything these days. One of them asked for your ssn in the application along with your bank information and goes on to tell you that is how you get paid. UMM, come on now...I hope people don't fall for things like that. I did find a legit ad on there and I have an interview lined up tomorrow morning for a temp position. YAY. I'm not sure how I will handle leaving the kids everyday, but we will see what happens.
